Stroll through any farmer's market right now and you'll be met by bushels and basketfuls of these berry beauts! To me it means the arrival of summertime. OK, OK, I know. Officially it's June 20th, but when you're sipping strawberry smoothies through a straw who's counting? I'll never forget my childhood summer job strawberry picking at Tenny farm in the sunny fields of Bennington, New Hampshire. Old farmer Tenny clued me in on how to achieve perfect poppage when plucking those juicy ruby reds. You pinch at the stem and it literally makes a satisfying POP! Ahhh nature. So let's celebrate these little juicy gems in June AND July! Our June class filled up so quickly, that we've added another strawberry shortcake class on July 11th. This year we'll be making a bonafide party people pleas-er. No little individual biscuits, one per person, no no... not that there's anything wrong with those... but quite frankly, sometimes one big cake is what's required to set down at the barbecue buffet or birthday blast.
