We just want to send boundless gratitude to everyone who has emailed, messaged, tweeted, phoned and stopped by with well wishes and offers of help. As some of you may already know, our lovely DUMBO store is not so lovely right now.  Unfortunately, we were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and suffered some damage due to flooding.  (Our block was under 4' of water and power has not yet been restored.)

We know our fans are anxious for us to reopen; clean-up and repairs have already begun.  We'll be back with breakfast, sweets, coffee and all the other OGC treats you love just as soon as we can.  In the meantime, we hope you will stop by our Cobble Hill shop which is open for business.

Your support means a lot right now.  We'll send updates via Facebook, so please check back on our progress.  One Girl Cookies has the best friends in the world and we are looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

PS... Thanks to both friends and perfect strangers (though, now friends) who have come by to help us clean up at the DUMBO shop. It feels good to be loved.

Barneys New York was the place I called my second home for six years. It was the classroom in which I learned the importance of aesthetic, the power of creativity and the joy of indulgence. At a point in time which I cannot specifically put my finger on, I reflected on my career choices and decided to return to that which I really knew... food and humanity's love of it. I began to think about my childhood and how much of it had been happily spent in the kitchen. The memories of the aromas and flavors that came from my grandmother's kitchen were vivid and exhilarating. That is where I learned about the ritual and significance of food, the sense of happiness and comfort it brought, and the essential elements of quality and care that went into its preparation.

    Dave Crofton, co-owner of One Girl Cookies, began his culinary career baking artisanal bread in Richmond, Virginia. He moved to New York City to attend the Institute of Culinary Education, and graduated with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. While in school, he took a part time job with One Girl Cookies to help develop and expand their line of handmade tea cookies. Upon graduation, he became a partner with Dawn Casale, the founder of One Girl Cookies. Two years later, Dawn and Dave opened their bakery and cafe in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn in 2005. Since the opening day and continuing into their new cafe in Dumbo, Dawn and Dave believe in using the finest ingredients available and baking everything from scratch.

    No, she’s not THE One Girl, but if you are a long-time customer at our Dean Street shop, you know Rebecca! (She’s the pretty brunette with the glasses and the Southern accent.) Rebecca joined the One Girl family as a barista in November of 2005 just before the opening of One Girl Cookies’ flagship store. A lot has changed since those early days and now she works as our Director of Special Events and Operations Manager. She enjoys combining her love of sweets with her eye for design and flare for the dramatic to create the best possible “sweets experience" for all of our customers, whether they are planning a wedding or just stopping by for an after-school snack.
