Just a couple of weeks ago, we were asked to create a cookie bar for a midsummer Gatsby-themed party being held at the lovely Haven Rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel in Manhattan.  Imagining jazz playing, champagne flowing, and Fitzgerald's Gatsby looking dapper in his "white flannel suit, silver shirt and gold-colored tie", we went to work.

We created a table with a palette of champagne-tones, black, and white then added touches of gold and silver.  The menu included French macarons brushed with gold dust, petits fours topped with gold dragees, miniature madeleines, and vanilla meringues topped with sparkly sanding sugar.  There's a wink and a nod toward Jay Gatsby himself with the inclusion of our take on a Millionaire's Bar (our most popular tea cookie, Lucia, a three-layer shortbread, caramel, chocolate treat) and his lady-love Daisy appears in the floral arrangements.

About Rebecca Lovett

No, she’s not THE One Girl, but if you are a long-time customer at our Dean Street shop, you know Rebecca! (She’s the pretty brunette with the glasses and the Southern accent.) Rebecca joined the One Girl family as a barista in November of 2005 just before the opening of One Girl Cookies’ flagship store. A lot has changed since those early days and now she works as our Director of Special Events and Operations Manager. She enjoys combining her love of sweets with her eye for design and flare for the dramatic to create the best possible “sweets experience" for all of our customers, whether they are planning a wedding or just stopping by for an after-school snack.
