From Our Table: The Sweet Life

Inspired by her family’s love of traditional home cooking and her knack for beautiful packaging, Dawn Casale left a career at Barneys New York to launch One Girl Cookies from the kitchen of her Greenwich Village apartment.  A decade later, she is savoring huge success with a beloved landmark bakery in Brooklyn and a new cookbook on the way.


Emotions run deep when visitors experience the supreme confections offered at One Girl Cookies.  Handwritten notes from customers include: “If cookies were baked in heaven, they’d be yours,” and “Don’t ever move.  My grandchildren would cry.”


“Cookies hold a special place in almost everyone’s memories,” says cookbook author and One Girl Cookie (sic) owner Dawn Casale.  “Everyone’s first dessert as a child was most likely a cookie, and nearly every culture has its own interpretation.”
